The terms 'shrink film' and 'stretch film' are often thought to be interchangeable but there is a big difference between the two. Shrink film requires heat to shrink and conform to the package it is applied to. While it can be used to encase an entire pallet of product it is most often applied to a single package to enhance appearance for retail and to offer protection. It can also be used to combine 2 or more pieces into a single package in place of corrugated containers. Stretch wrap does not require heat and is used to consolidate individual packages onto a pallet and reduces the chance of load shifting and damage in transport.
